Lance Herndon

is adopting a child from United States of America

Where to start? Lance (my husband) and I have known each other longer than we haven't at this point in our lives. We started out friends at the age of 16, and at 24 we were married. Lance is a Navy Helicopter pilot. We have lived many places and traveled to see many gorgeous countries. This life has been a adventurous blessing. Two years into our marriage we made the decision to do what many young couples do & have a baby. Unfortunately, for us the equation wasn''t as simple as get pregnant, wait 9 months, have a baby. After many years of heart break, miscarriages, fertility and struggle we finally had our answered prayers. We were blessed with the most amazingly wonderful ball of energy. Keegan is currently 6 years old and we couldn't love him more. He is the sweetest perfection. A combination of his daddy and myself. He makes our lives better and teaches us more than anything else ever has. I always envisioned myself with a bunch of kids. I know how crazy that sounds and some probably think I have officially lost it. Maybe you're right. Ha! I now realize a bunch of little blessings is probably going to be unlikely, we would love to welcome one more into this family of three. After much thought, discussion and prayer we have decided to pursue adoption. We have been talking about it for years and the one thing that has held us back has been the money.I don't know many people that have $40,000 (or more) laying around. The thought of fund raising never dawned on either of us until I was at work a couple of weeks ago and a lady came in with a shirt on that said ÂÄŽfamily is more than blood. I told her how much I loved it and she told me it was for a couple trying to adopt. It was certainly a light bulb moment for me. Since that very second I have used every spare moment to pray, research and discuss things with my husband. So, here we are, happily married for almost 12 years with one sweet little human we call our own. We would love nothing more than to be able to make this only child a big brother. Our family is happy, thriving, but we know we have more love to share with another precious baby. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. We appreciate your support and would love your prayers! Thank you and God bless!
