We are a childless couple in our 40's who has never been able to conceive children. Now we are finally living our dream of having children by adopting a child from Ukraine! Our journey began over 10 years ago - even before we ever met a single Ukrainian or visited Ukraine for the first time. In 2007 we visited Ukraine on a mission trip and it was then when we fell in love with Ukraine, its culture and most of all, its people. Since that time, we have discussed the possibility of adoption many, many times. Yet, for one reason or another, the timing was not right. And, just as we were about to give up on ever adding a child to our lives, God came through for us in a most unexpected way. Facebook. Yes, Facebook. An ad was featured that told about an opportunity to host a Ukrainian orphan in our home over 4 weeks over Christmas. It was an opportunity to open our hearts and home to a child in a way we had never experienced before. And, it changed our lives forever. When the child returned to Ukraine after 4 short weeks, we felt the emptiness in our hearts and in our home. And, despite all of our previous reservations about the cost of international adoption, the time we'd have to spend in Ukraine (two separate trips - away from work and our dogs), now the timing is right. The adoption with travel expenses will cost approximately $30,000.00. We have done several fundraisers to offset the cost of the adoption. Friends and family have donated approximately $4,000 towards our cause. But, now we are running out of resources. We have even applied for an adoption loan but were declined because we are self-employed and cannot prove our future income. If you feel led to donate towards our dream of finally having a child to call our own, we are infinitely grateful. And, please understand we take absolutely nothing for granted. Your donation of any amount lessens the financial burden on us and enables us to move forward with the next steps in the adoption process. It is with grateful hearts that we thank you for taking the time to follow our journey of the heart. Rob & Jennifer
