We are the Swain family, and we are blessed to have three precious children. We brought our daughter home from China in 2014. Before the plane even landed on US soil traveling home, we knew in our hearts that God was calling us to go back. We are beginning the process of adopting another little girl from China, and we have already been matched with a precious two-year-old special needs child from the same province where our daughter was also born almost five years ago. The child we are pursuing to adopt was in utero only two hours away from us when we met our daughter. This is truly an incredible journey with God's fingerprints all over it! We also have given her the name "Meili Joy" that God really put on our hearts this past summer. We were amazed to realize that this child's Chinese name has the identical meaning of Meili Joy…"Beautiful Joy". His grace has been so evident, and His confirmation to pursue the adoption of this child has been clear.
We are no one special, we are simply blessed to be a part of what God is doing in pouring out His love. Adoption is a picture of what God's love for us looks like. He came to us out of His great love because we were in need of redemption. He saved us, not because of who we are, but because of who He is. Then He made us a part of His family…we are His beloved children. He has given us His heart to bring another little girl who has no family into our family.
Along our journey of adoption we have learned that we can't travel this journey on our own. Whether it comes in the form of prayer, encouragement, a meal, a word of wisdom, or financial support, it is the people who come along side us that make adoption possible. We've started a fundraiser on Pure Charity to raise the funding that we need to bring our daughter home. We have a donations goal of $25,000 that will go towards the cost of the adoption.
