We were blessed with a sweet girl 3 years ago, and wish to give another child the promise of a "forever family". Ever since we first laid eyes on Samia we have been working to build the funds to welcome her home. We&'ve prepared as much as we can, but the cost of adopting can be daunting. In addition to the adoption fees, because we are adopting through the special needs program, we will have some immediate medical costs as well. We have already taken care of many of the costs. We are so grateful to all those who have supported us to this point and for those going forward. Additionally, my mother was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. The care of her has depleted my reserve of vacation time that was previously allocated to the adoption trip to China and "maternity" leave after the return home. Time off will now be unpaid and my mother still requires a great deal of care as she undergoes chemotherapy and radiation treatments as well as rehabilitation to overcome motor skill, vision and speech impairments. Christmas travel will also be very costly but we will do whatever it takes to bring our daughter home.
