Sara & Joey T.

are adopting a child from United States of America

We are almost there!! : )

We were so excited for our first adoption of Everly in 2022, but it’s amazing how that feeling of joy from seeing restoration happen feels like it just multiplies each time!

We are getting our home ready for adopting the precious 2-year-old who has been in our care!! We have come so far, but we have one BIG final task ahead!

–> Caregiver Home Assessment –> Collaborate with a Licensed Provider –> Complete All Mandatory Trainings –> Legal Termination of Parental Rights –> Pass the Comprehensive Home Study and Screenings –> Submit the Initial Application for Adoption –> File the Petition to Adopt –> Fulfill Post-Placement Supervision __ Finalize the Adoption in Court: __ Complete the Added Bedroom/Bathroom Project

Our 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1,039sf home will now have 6 kids under 8 years of age… That’s 8 people in this place!

I was going to do the legwork for the electrical on my own and have the electrician check it and connect the wires at the panel and the switches and outlets… -and do similarly for plumbing, to keep people from having to donate so much and empower them to be more resourceful with their money, but I’ve had to fix other things around our 1968 home that has had me whirling and whirling…

Floor removal in the kitchen due to mold clean up where the dishwasher heating element burned into the plastic base over time…

Broken roof shingles and boards from tree damage…

Also minimizing danger from a 70’ dying red oak that cracked off a 40’ limb next to an elm tree that had an 8 foot split developing at its bend hovering over the house… : ( it all happened at the same time to kick off my summer that I thankfully have off as a special education teacher.

So incredibly and gratefully, Sara’s family stepped into our life’s storms to financially to help us with all of those unforeseen issues that occurred so we could continue to use all donated money for the additional bedroom/bathroom project.

Electrical & Plumbing: $5500 The electrician says he can run all of the electrical for $3,000. The plumbing should be around $2,000 for the rough-in connections while I take care of the final plumbing connections from the wall to the fixtures. Spending an unseen $500 in miscellaneous for retro-fitting things to work for this 1968 home sounds about right. $5,500 to get it done! : )

Please help us continue getting this project completed as our adoption day is looking like it will be sometime soon in June.

    Getting closer! : )

    June 9, 2026

Thank you all so much for taking the time to consider joining our family's mission and values to make sure that children in need have a loving, safe, and caring home when they are valued and can grow to their life's fullest potential!

We have completed the 12x20 storage building for the garage foster care and storage items... completed the demolition process with the kid's excitedly joining in... ordered 3 windows... ordered the 32x80 door... and I am currently fixing some extra roof areas I found that may leak into the addition if not properly sealed.

UGL Extreme Concrete Floor Paint is next to seal off moisture and possible radon gases, laser leveling the mounting points, installing ledger boards, floor joist hangers, and floor joists, and insulating with polystyrene sections under the 14" rise in the walls under the floor is happening soon! : ) Here we go!! Exciting times ahead!! : ) Come along with us!! : )
