Erica Schaefer
is adopting a child from India
Welcome to our adoption journey! We are Zach and Erica Schaefer and we have a heart to adopt another orphan girl from India. Arabella Hebsi needs a sister!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have created a place to invite you into our process.
We are deeply impacted by Psalm 82:3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. (NIV)
Why India?
India is a beautiful country full of culture and color. It is also a country where there is immense need. India recently accounted for the largest amount of people living below the poverty line; living on less than $1.90 a day.
- There are an estimated 35 million orphans in India (more than any country in the world). Of the 35 million orphans only 476,000 are off the streets living in orphanages.
- No country can rival India’s children in need. Of India’s nearly 400 million under 18, over 80 million are forced child laborers.
- India has the largest female infanticide rate in the world with an estimated 67 million girls missing from the population.
- There is an estimated 575,000 children sold into the sex trade every year.
*All statistics received through UNICEF and Orphan Outreach
We hope you will join us in bringing hope and a home to an orphan girl through your prayers and financial support.
Love,
Zach, Erica and Hebsi
