is adopting a child from United States of America

Hey, friends. Many of you have been following our international adoption journey for the past 5 years and we just first want to acknowledge that and say thank you for your love and encouragement over the years. Adoption can be so easily romanticized but in reality, it’s quite a battle.

In 2016, we began the arduous homestudy/dossier process in order to be approved to adopt from the Philippines. In January of 2017, we were accepted and were placed on a waitlist to be matched with a child by the Inter-Country Adoption Board who matches children with waiting families.

Without going into great detail, we have decided that our family is needing to change course. Between the losses, the wait and Covid-related uncertainties, we feel like domestic adoption is more viable at this point. Because of our experiences the past 5 years, we are more passionate than ever about adoption. While we are grieving this change, we are also hopeful and excited at what and who God has planned for our family.

This shift as brought quite a few added expenses, not to mention the financial losses of waiting for a match for so long. We are now humbly reaching out to our friends and family for help in sowing into our adoption.

We are currently working on a homestudy update with our agency, Holt International, to adjust our verbiage and update our information once again. We have recently partnered with Christian Adoption Consultants in order to have an advocate and support as we continue to push through to the finish line.

We have $12,218 in our adoption fund as of today. Domestic adoption averages between $38k-$48k. Our homestudy update expenses are paid for, and our adoption consultant has been paid for. We are also considering the post-adoption expenses such as, legal finalization, medical bills, baby gear, flights and housing during placement.

We are so very thankful for the amazing community we have around us to hold our arms up in the battle. Adoption is a calling we can’t get away from and we are confident that God will make a way for us in His way and timing.

We believe that adoption honors brave birth mothers, redeems family lines, rescues children, and connects us to the very heart of the Father. Thank you for reading our story, for your prayers and for your consideration to financially invest into this adoption.
