As much as we would love to tell you we just decided to adopt, we could not. The commitment to adopt a child is unlike anything else in this world, with one exception: the things in life that have everlasting and enduring significance are always a calling to the heart, not just a simple choice of the mind. Our calling came in August 2008. In Houston, Texas, during a church service, Al was listening to a close friend speak and began imagining his great grandfather as a little boy. Prior to being in Houston, Al had attended a family funeral and learned that his great grandfather was an orphan. That vision in Houston stirred Al and he realized that adopting a little boy and calling him his son would, in some way, bring healing to his family tree. Al told Naida what had happened in Houston and she was thrilled. Having a happy home already with 3 daughters, we began getting excited about adopting our son. We know we are part of a larger community that believes every life matters. Working with Adopt Together, we hope to make it easy for friends and family to support our calling to adopt our son. Thank you for any and all help! Al & Naida sergeladoption.wordpress.com
