Sarah Spiegel
is adopting a child from United States of America
We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
A little bit of our story:
Adoption has always had a place in our hearts. When Daniel and I were dating and discussing our thoughts on families and children we both discussed growing our family both biologically and through adoption. We both shared a desire to adopt one day. God knew what the future held and planted this desire in our hearts. In July of 2018, just a year after we married, my OBGYN discovered a tumor on my ovaries. We were sent to a fertility specialist that August. In September the fertility specialist sent us to an oncologist who specialized in ovarian cancer. My oncologist told us that surgery needed to happen ASAP and to prepare for the possibility of a full hysterectomy. We were shocked! The surgery was scheduled for October. Before the surgery, there was still a 50/50 chance that things would be okay. When I woke up the surgeon told me it was one of the worst cases she had ever seen and to prepare for at least six months of chemo. The surgical team sent away 17 biopsies. Every single one came back free from cancer. Praise the Lord no cancer! But our hearts were still hurting. Daniel and I both believed that we had plenty of love to share with a little one and that our family was not done growing.
After taking time to heal and to learn about domestic adoption we took our first steps towards becoming adoptive parents. We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. After months of gathering paperwork, educating ourselves about adoption, and doing more paperwork we are finally ready to begin this next leg of our journey. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $35,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
