Jonathan Starkey

is adopting a child from Ethiopia

HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN OUR ONLINE ADOPTION AUCTION FOR KALEB! We are excited to be adding Kaleb (bold) Dawit (David-beloved) Yonatan (Jonathan-God's gift) to our family. Jonathan and I named him within hours of getting our referral, because at 1 1/2 years of age, HE STILL HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN A NAME! Only 'Baby' and the name of his town. He cannot yet sit up on his own due to lack of interaction. Our agency said they want to move him twice, where he will get increasingly better care, but other adoptions need to move forward first to create room for him. We are amazed to realize that he was actually born last June WHILE WE WERE IN ETHIOPIA PICKING UP OUR DAUGHTER! We visited the very town where he was born, because that is where our other (4th) child who is 'stuck' lives and we visited her. Our children are a delight to us. Gadisa Moses is 6 1/2. Kiya Naomi Joy is 2 1/2. The leader of our agency saw our daughter this summer now that she's been home with us for a year. She said, "This is not the same child. I can't wait to show pictures to the nannies!" I agreed. Her countenance is entirely different. Her laughter is magical. Gadisa traveled with me last year to bring Kiya home. The nannies went nuts over him, saying he's the first child they cared for who ever came back. It was very meaningful to Gadisa as well. We are thrilled to be adopting again, are forking out all of our savings, and quite frankly really are relying on some Divine Intervention to carry us through. Would you be part of bringing our son home? Heartfelt thanks! Katja Starkey
