Hello Friends and Family!
Thank you for visiting our adoption fundraising site. Matt and I are working with a private agency to adopt older waiting children in Michigan. This means that we are likely to be matched with children between the ages of 6 and 14. We have two extra bedrooms in our house, so are open to sibling groups. We will be licensed to adopt up to four children, with varying social, emotional, and physical needs.
Because of the intense need for adoptive parents, the State of Michigan subsidizes most of our adoption costs, as far as paperwork and certifications go. However, we still have some big expenses related to bringing our children home. We will need to buy a minivan or similar large vehicle to be able to transport as many as four children. We will also incur some court fees and fees related to issuing new birth certificates for our children.
Besides the must-haves, we would like to be able to allow our kiddos a "shopping spree" of sorts to decorate their bedrooms in their our unique style. Our children will have come from hard places, and may not have had the luxury of their own bedroom, let alone owning their space with decorations or items that they like. Please help us to give them this "welcome home" gift!
