We have BIG news!
We are hoping and praying to adopt a child!
In 2014, just a month or so into our relationship, while driving along a highway in Jacksonville, we had a life changing conversation. The best conversations always happen in cars, right? Well, we began discussing our future and more children (David was blessed with Allyson in 2009 from a previous marriage, making Tara a lucky Step Mom). We both expressed our dreams to expand our family with another child and we were certain it needed to be through adoption. Both of us have fertility obstacles that made our decision to adopt a very easy one! At the time, we had absolutely no idea how we would begin our process and zero clue on the depths in which adoption would take us. The only certain thing we knew was adoption was the one and only route for us and even though a few times in the past several years we tried to change our path, God made sure to redirect us where we were meant to be. By mid 2017, all 3 of us began our journey.
At this point, we are beyond excited and doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. Not surprisingly, all doors that led to adoption have opened since we started in 2017! As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to know that adoption related costs can immediately total anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000 and that often overwhelms adoptive parents. As it stands, we have already faithfully begun making our financial commitments to adopting and we're knee deep in step 1, our home study (almost complete!) and researching agencies to assist us in our search. Once our home study is complete, we will officially be a "waiting family". Then the fun really begins!
