are adopting a child from Hungary
We are honored to be embarking on this journey to meet our 4th child. The Lord has been nudging our hearts, speaking to us through His word and encouraging us each step of the way! Adoption is something that we spoke about early on in our dating relationship. The Lord has been slowly preparing our hearts all of these years. Scripture teaches that “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress.” (James 1:27) This is one way that we as a family personally feel called to live out the gospel mission. The concept of adoption, and caring for those who are vulnerable and marginalized in society is all over scripture. The more that we pray and study, the more we see that this is truly the heart of the Father! “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.” -Mark 9:37. Adoption starts with loss, and brokenness. A child separated from their birth parents for any reason is tragic, and sorrowful. No child deserves to be left an orphan forever. As believers in Christ, we believe in the redemptive plan and power of God. We believe that these children deserve to know the love of Christ, and the love of family. Adoption is a beautiful and biblical concept; however it does not come without its own unique challenges. We have committed to do whatever is required to be fully prepared to welcome another child into our family. After all, that is what Christ did for us. God predestined us to be a part of His family from the foundations of the world. Ephesians 1:5 says “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” The bible teaches that all believers were spiritually orphans before Christ adopted us into His family (Romans 8:15). The family of God is diverse and not limited to blood relation. We see several examples of adoption in the old testament with Moses, Esther, Samuel and Mephibosheth. Joseph was also not Jesus’s biological Father, but he chose to raise and care for him as his own. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Mary’s pregnancy, Joseph decided to trust and listen to God’s direction, leading him to step into his role as a loving and protective Father. In 3 out of the 4 gospels when Jesus was confronted about his mother and brothers waiting outside to speak with Him, he replied: “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:48-50, Mark 3:33-35, Luke 8:19-21) . We see that according to Jesus, family is not limited to blood relation, and neither is love. In the book of Revelation, we see a picture of Gods family. “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” -Revelation 7:9. The family of God is full of people from all different nations, tribes and tongues/languages that He chose! Similarly, adoption is a beautiful representation of that! As a family, we have A LOT more love to give! It is an honor and a privilege that God would entrust us to raise one of His children as our own. We have prayerfully decided to adopt from Hungary. Lexi’s father is from Hungary and Lexi lived there when she was young. Lexi attended Kindergarten in Budapest, Hungary and always felt a deep connection to Hungary. We have a deep sense of love for our child already, although we have never met him/her yet. We pray for him/her every single day. Our children are very excited and patiently waiting as well.
Adoption costs can quickly add up, if you feel lead to give towards our adoption you can do so through this link below. Another way that we are asking for support is through prayer. We believe in the power of prayer and are asking for protection, continued open-doors, Gods provision to equip us and bring our child home safely. If you can commit to praying for our family throughout this journey, we really appreciate that!
We have currently been accepted to Lifeline Children’s Services and our Home Study has been Approved. We have been approved to adopt a child (boy or girl) ages 0-5. Next, we begin paperwork with immigration. Thank you for taking the time to read about our family!
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” -Romans 8:15-16
