Jake and Mallory Adkison
are adopting a child from United States of America
We have BIG news! We are adopting a child! We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $30,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
We began the adoption process in 2022 as we pursued an international adoption. Unfortunately, we decided to step away from the international program due to political issues. We prayed and asked the Lord to guide our next steps. We felt the Lord’s leading to apply to our home study agency’s domestic adoption program. We have been accepted into that program and we are so excited! As you can understand, we lost funds that were already allocated to our previous program. This leaves us with a goal of $14,000 to be ready to accept the placement of a child. Please consider giving and praying for the Lord to provide!

Day 293--Adopt from Liberia
July 5, 2023On June 13th, I wrote "$19,899.35 is what we have left to pay to our agency..."
I am extremely excited to update you that we now have $10,036.68 left to fundraise for our agency fees. That balance, combined with the $5,000 grant we will be receiving brings our agency total to $5,036.68.
We know that we still have a ways before we are fully funded (travel fees, etc), but this milestone is so exciting! This balance will increase if we accept the referral of more than one child. That increase doesn't scare us. We know that God knows the outcome and He knows where every penny will come from to get us fully funded.
We have set a goal for ourselves. A scary, but realistic goal. We believe that we can be fully funded by September 30, 2023. That is 86 days. I hope to look back on this update and be so proud of our people for helping us achieve this goal.
Ways to help:
1. LOCALS: Sign up for our Tea Party fundraiser event on July 22nd at 11:00AM.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15G51jaD-Ujx6hb3h0SlXl7JwFutYP_afhdfNgXLOo3Q/prefill
2. LOCALS: Donate textiles (shoes, sheets, towels, clothes, belts, socks, etc) we will be taking donations until our adoption is fully funded. Our next drop is July 7th.
3. ANYONE: Donate here on AdoptTogether. Even if you cannot give much, the email notification we get that someone took the time to give is SO encouraging to us.
4. ANYONE: Please share, like, comment, follow along on our facebook updates. Fundraising is also about getting our story out to people who are strangers to us. We want to show waiting parents that adoption can be affordable. We also want to rally our people that will be excited for our child(ren) to come home. -
Update 9
Day 280--Adopt from Liberia
June 22, 2023I don't know about you, but I usually don't answer phone calls of numbers that I am unfamiliar with. I'm glad that yesterday I chose to answer a call from an unknown number. The sweet lady that spoke to me on the other end of the line was calling to inform us that we had been chosen for a grant! Our family will be receiving $5,000 from a non-profit ministry out of Ohio! I shouted "praise God!" in the middle of the coffee shop and got some very weird looks! LOL! We are thrilled and so incredibly grateful for how the Lord is providing! I promise I will be answering every unknown number from now on!

Update 8
Day 274--Adopt from Liberia
June 16, 2023A family for Christmas.
If you have been around Jake and I in the last several months, it doesn't take long before the conversation turns to adoption and fundraising. Our families have listened to us, strategized with us, prayed for us, and worked with us. We have goals and desires that we cannot achieve on our own. We need our people. We're happy to say that 'our people' is not limited to just family anymore. 'Our people' has turned into strangers in our community, customers at our coffee shop, givers across the country, friendly people we meet in the grocery store. We are assembling the people that are helping us be a family by Christmas. These people are rallying together so that our child(ren) in Liberia know that they have a mom and dad that are coming to bring them home and make a family. Our people are sharing posts on facebook, giving money to our fund, donating huge bags of clothes and shoes, buying glow in the dark bracelets. None of these are small things. Every penny donated makes us being a family by Christmas a true reality. We don't know what the two governments will do or what timeline God has planned, but we know that our hearts cannot rest until we are a family. So as you hear or read of our efforts to climb this fundraising mountain, join us. Our dossier is completed, with the exception of our I-600A paper. We are so incredibly close to knowing who our child(ren) are. As you pray for a quick process, please consider joining us as well. We need our people to help us.
Ways to help:
-Donate here on AdoptTogether (any dollar amount helps)
-Donate clothes, shoes, textiles to us (we can pick up locally)
-Shop our NoonDay Collection Show (https://bit.ly/noondaydads)
-Donate $5 and we will give/mail you a bracelet (they glow in the dark--very cool)
-Share and interact with our posts on facebook (this helps get our story out)
-Sign up for our Tea Party Fundraiser in Aiken, SC (details on Adkison Adoption facebook)
-Pray for our children, their birth family, us, our friends that are also adopting, a quick process of our I-600A -
Update 7
Day 271--Adopt from Liberia
June 13, 2023$19,899.35 is the balance we have left to pay to our agency. This is both extremely exciting and overwhelming. We are blown away by the progress that has been made in fundraising, but we can't stop yet. We have to keep climbing this mountain of fundraising. While we are still waiting on our i600A to come back, we don't want money to be the reason we have to wait even longer. My hope is that we can make huge strides in fundraising before we are matched so that we can focus on raising travel expenses and not on agency fees. We have been applying for grants and fundraiser events, most of which we won't hear back from for a few more weeks. We hope that we will be chosen for some grants to help pay off our agency fees. While my hands feel tied on our progress, I will focus on raising the funds we need to keep going. Here are some ways you can help:
--PRAY (for quick approval on our i600A specifically)
--Share and interact with our facebook postings
--Sign up for our Tea Party if you are local (details on facebook)
--Shop Jake's fathers day Noonday Collection show (https://bit.ly/noondaydads)
--share this link on facebook or with a friend/family member
--donate clothes, shoes, textiles if you are local to us
Thank you for being on this journey with us, we are truly so grateful. -
Update 6
Day 259--Adopt from Liberia
June 1, 2023Who knew our people could raise $1,000 in 24 hours? Our friends Rachel and Jeremy gave us a $500 matching grant on Tuesday. Our people came together quickly and generously to match that $500 and turn it into $1,000 towards our adoption! That is incredible! This huge stride in fundraising brings us to just $55.30 short of reaching the $20,000 total collected mark. We're so close! While we are making progress in our fundraising efforts, we are also progressing in the paperwork process. We submitted our I-600A several days ago and we are praying that we receive the approval very soon--please pray with us on this. We began compiling our dossier to get ready to send to Liberia, which is so exciting! Once we receive the I-600A, we will be able to send off our dossier officially to Liberia! Once our dossier is in Liberia, we can begin the matching process to be matched with our child(ren)! We have the paperwork behind us now--with the exception of a few documents. We made huge strides in the month of May, let's make June even better!
Thank you for staying updated, praying, and giving! We love our people!
