We’re so excited to share that Amelia’s birth mother has asked us to adopt her soon-to-be-born baby girl — Amelia’s half-sister — due this December. Of course without hesitation, we said yes! We feel incredibly honored and grateful for this opportunity to grow our family and keep these sisters together.

Adoption is beautiful, but also expensive and this time unexpected. The total cost will be around $40,000, covering legal work, home study updates, travel, and other adoption-related expenses.

    Adoption journey update and next steps

    First we want to thank everyone for their patience we know it has been a while since our last update.

    The week we thought we were bringing Amelia's sister home, we found out that her birth mom had qualified for a program that allowed her to keep custody of the baby while she is in jail, so she understandably decided to keep custody. This was obviously unexpected news, and we took a step back for a few months to grieve and figure out our next steps.

    We decided to continue working with the agency that completed our home study to find another placement, and we are so excited to share that our profile should be going public this month! We will be sure to share it with everyone once it is live.

    Thank you all again for your incredible generosity and patience as we navigate this journey. It truly means the world to us.
