are adopting a child from United States of America
We have big news!
We are adopting a child!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home.
As a part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. Between lawyers, birth mother costs, home studies, agency fees, and more the total adoption cost will be $55,000. To help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents we have started this crowdfunding site and applying for grants.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as a part of the community we hope to build around our child as they grow up. It takes a small village to raise a child; we would welcome all to that village.
God has a plan for us and will provide us a child when the time is right.
Hello, we are Erin and Rustine Barr married for 7 years living in a rural community. We are 38 and 42 years old, both paramedics with our critical care degree, Erin now works for the Department of Homeland Security. We have no children of our own, we are foster parents in the state of IL though. We have taken in three foster children to date and have loved every minute of it, two have been reunited with family, we still have one in our custody. We have wanted children for many years and have found now to be the right time as we have both sets of parents close and retired to assist us. While fostering children we were able to figure out our schedules and adjust in areas to accommodate the needs of a child. We are adopting due to Erin being infertile and unable to have our own. Erin has been to multiple specialists and told she would not be able to have children on her own, due to PCOS and Endometriosis. We have dreamed of having children and wanted to start our own family. Erin has helped raise her niece and nephew and both are eagerly waiting for a child of their own to care for. Rustine was adopted at 9 months old and so they feel strongly about the adoption process. They want to help a child and birth family in need. Rustines family was not able to have children of their own and chose the path of adoption. Rustines family still celebrate the day he was adopted every year, calling it his special day. Erin and Rustine believe the path of adoption was chosen special for them by God, and that the role of Rustine being adopted only made their hearts more open and ready for this process.
We like having weekly (if not more) meals with family, family vacations, family weekends, and special occasions with family. We both also enjoy taking fishing trips and hope to teach a kid about the outdoors. We have been wanting a child since 2019 and have recently passed our home study. We have signed with an agency to assist in finding a birth family for adoption. As previously stated Rustine was adopted at 9 months old and that has led the way down the path of adoption for Erin and Rustine. Along with the infertility diagnosis for Erin. Erin has shed many tears over the years waiting for their special child. While working on the ambulance was hard for Erin, as she got a lot of the pediatric calls, it broke her heart seeing children mistreated and hurt. Erin kept the faith in God that he would provide them a child to love when the time was right. Since Rustine was adopted, the state wouldn’t share any information about his birth parents, after many years he was able to track them down to only find out his father had passed away and mother has not been heard from in many years. This helped Erin and Rustine understand the importance of when they get matched with a birth family, having an open adoption so they can still be apart of the child’s life.
The adoption will cost us about $55,000 in total. We have already spent $27,000 in adoption costs. Breakdown of current line of credit for $5,000, Erin and Rustine plus family have put an additional $22,000 into the cause. We are looking to sell Rustine’s 2002 truck to gain funds. We hope to find grants and gifts from friends to fund the final $28,000 if we can’t sell his truck. This would be enormously helpful to us in being able to stay financially stable and give this child anything and everything they could ever want. God has a plan for us and will provide us a child when the timing is right.
Thank you all for any help you can provide.
