We have EXCITING news—we are adopting a child!!
Our children have been such a joy and blessing, and we firmly feel God calling us to adoption. Since shortly after beginning our marriage, we have been blessed to walk alongside close friends as they have pursued adoption, both privately and through foster care. We have witnessed the immense miracle that adoption is and have seen both its beauty and its tragedy. As we have fervently prayed for our friends, their families, their adoptive children, the birth parents and as we have walked alongside them and celebrated the highs and helped carry them through the lows, God placed a desire in our own hearts to grow our family through adoption. We too feel called to welcome a child into our family and unconditionally love them just as God has loved us. We desire for our adopted child to know and deeply experience love each and every moment of their life from our family. As they grow, we also hope they also gain an understanding of the love of their birth parents had for them to sacrificially place them in our home so that they would grow up in a stable and loving home environment. We also desire to love their birth parents, and we are committed to honoring and cherishing them as part of our child’s story.
Our adoption journey officially started in October 2021 when we signed up with Quiver Full Adoptions (QFA) and joined their waiting list. In April 2022, we received notification from QFA that there was an opening on the active list for us. Upon becoming active, we would now be able to be presented to birth moms. In March 2023, QFA began presenting “outside situations” from the adoption attorney that they partner with, Raymond Godwin, Attorney at Law, PC. We then began having our adoption profile shown through Mr. Godwin as well. In November 2023, Mr. Godwin’s office called to give us the great news that we received notice that we matched with a birth mom, who is due on January. We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a new child into our family and home.
As part of our adoption process, we have started applying for adoption assistance grants and have also started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $20,000.
