We have some BIG news to share! It has been a long and hard journey, but the Benson family is finally at the chapter in their story to begin the adoption process for our sweet baby Mae!
God has been with us along the way, showing us the story that He had already meticulously written for Mae and our family. We are beyond excited to be at this point that, at many times, felt like was so far out of reach! BUT, with the continuous prayers and support from our community, here we are! We would love to share every detail of the 15-month journey with you, and maybe one day there will be an opportunity for that. However, right now, we would just like to focus on the positive and finalize the legal parts of what God has set into place.
Shortly before the “big trial”, one of the Benson children reminded us all about the power in the number 7 and how Mae will complete their family as the 7th member. The number 7 appears in the Bible over 700 times. In Scripture, seven often symbolized completion and perfection. It is no mistake that this strong-willed and loving child was placed perfectly in the #7 spot to complete the Benson family. This in no way discounts the previous foster children that we still consider part of our family. We love them all dearly and always will!
As part of the adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign to assist the Bensons. We know that they rarely ask for help from others but are always willing to step in to help when needed. As their family and close friends, we feel led to do our part in showing our support in this way as we know it will be the most beneficial for their family. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total $35,000 or more. This process has been far from the “typical” foster-adoption process for the Benson’s though, and that total has been long surpassed. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the loving and supportive community that we hope to build around sweet Mae as she grows.
