We are excited to be on the path of adopting a child!

It has been a long journey for us and will likely prove to be longer still, but we are excited to finally have a completed Homestudy and to be working with an agency to set up an adoption profile for matching with an expectant birth mother.

As we are sure many know, adoption is very expensive. We have already paid around $18,000 for our Homestudy and adoption agency matching services. Here is a breakdown of the remaining costs that we are aware of and anticipating:

Case Management/Support Services to Birth Mother: $3,000 Case Coordination Fee: $1,500 Birth Parent One Relenquishment: $2,500 Birth Parent Two Relenquishment: $1,000 Interstate Compact (applies if birth mom is out-of-state): $1,000 Social Worker Hospital Support: $2,000 Post Placement Visits (4 req for CA): $2,000 Finalization: $500 Post Adoption Services: $1,500 Social Worker Travel Fees: $1,500 Our Travel Expenses at birth: $1,800 Birth Mother’s Medical Expenses (Varies, depending on birth mother’s insurance): $5,000 Legal Fees (Varies): $5,000 Birth Mother’s living expenses during pregnancy (Varies): $10,000

Total remaining expenses: $38,300
