Jamie and I have felt called to adoption since we started dating in college. As Christians we believe that God has called each of us to play a role in taking care of children who need support and a permanent family. God’s heart for adoption is woven throughout the Bible. “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families(.)” Psalm 68:5-6. We love the idea that God has a role for us in doing His work here on earth!

In 2018 we adopted our son Titus. While that process was long and difficult, we are so honored to have Titus as a member of our family. He brings so much love, joy, and energy to everything he does. He is smart, athletic, and has a great sense of humor. While our two sons look different and have unique strengths and weaknesses, our love for both Titus and our biological son Levi is the same. We can’t wait to see how God is going to use Titus’ adoption story to serve others and make him into the person he was meant to be.

We don’t believe our family’s adoption story is complete. Our boys are now both six-year-olds and have been excitedly praying for a new baby. For us, adoption is just one way that God forms families. We have been planning to jump into adoption again for years and we believe now is the time. We are working through a home study, background checks, and medical examinations in preparation to be approved to adopt once again. Adoption is expensive. Our previous adoption cost well over $50k and expenses and inflation have only risen since 2018. We have been putting money away for a future adoption for many years, but if you would like to get involved financially that would be awesome!     We are now reviewing cases and presenting our family as an option to birth mothers look to select parents for their child. In private adoption it is entirely up to a mother to select the adoptive parents. We hope and pray that the right situation will come along soon. Pray for us as we look to love on a birth mom and baby.
