From early on in our dating years we often talked about and both had a desire to adopt one day. Adoption is such a beautiful picture of the gospel and what God has done for us bringing us into His family. Likewise, we wanted to do the same for a child who needs a family. We did not exactly know when, or what it would look like for us. But at the end of 2019, we felt like we were in a spot where it made sense to finally start the process. We actually started looking into domestic adoption but were quickly rerouted and felt like international adoption was where God was leading us.
So in January 2020, we officially began the journey of international adoption. Through many conversations, research, and prayer, we chose to apply to adopt from Hungary thru Lifeline Children’s Services. At that point the estimated timeframe was 1.5 years. Well, as you can imagine the pandemic changed things around and slowed the process down a lot. Fast forward nearly 3 years of waiting and 2 renewed home studies and we are so excited to announce that we have been officially matched!
There is a 4 year old girl now waiting for us in Hungary and we are so excited to go meet her and bring her home! She was born at 23 weeks and is already a living miracle with all that she has had to overcome. We said yes on her 4th birthday and later realized that she is perfectly spaced (20 months) behind our current youngest, which is the same spacing as all of our boys. So, on February 6th, the six of us will be jumping on a plane and heading to Hungary and coming home as SEVEN! This has been a long time coming especially for Momma, who has been way outnumbered for a little too long ;)
International Adoption has so many steps, people, organizations, social workers, governments and details involved that it is VERY expensive. Our projected cost is about $50,000! We knew this was going to be a step of faith when we started, and we trusted that God would provide. So far, we have spent $20k over the course of the past three years, and now is time for the final push and need.
Our hope from the beginning was to not have to go into debt in this journey, especially knowing that there are several needs anticipated for her once we get home (in addition to adding another person to the house). We would be so grateful if you would partner with us to help bring our girl home. You can easily give thru the portal on this site and 100% of your gift will go directly toward our adoption. All donations given here are tax deductible.
Thanks so much for the support on our newest adventure and the continued prayers. We certainly could not do this without the amazing extended family, friends, and church that we have!
