After more than 15 years together we are so excited to finally bring a baby into our lives! Although both of us are physically capable of having children, after discussing it with each other over the years, we agreed that an open adoption would be the right choice for us and a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the world. We have been home study approved since July 2022 and will be adopting a newborn baby girl from California this June!
Although we have talked about wanting to adopt since the beginning of our relationship, neither of us have family members with a strong income or good enough credit that would be able to help us financially. After explaining to them the high costs of adopting from birth, our families were saddened that they could not contribute in a significant way. But we have always been committed to the adoption process and between grants, employer sponsorship, and saving up ourselves, we have secured about $35,000.
Before reaching out for donations, we wanted to make sure to exhaust every option possible. We are currently in the process of applying for other grants, but there is no guarantee on the timeframe that they might be able to assist us. We have also tried applying for adoption loans, but have not found a financing company willing to work with us due to our young credit. Our attorney has advised us to plan for $50,000 in adoption fees. This will not include the cost of travel or any unexpected birthmother expenses. Our fundraising goal of $20,000 will help cover the final expenses for the adoption and travel costs.
Thank you for sharing the story of our journey with your friends and family. With your help we are one step closer to bringing home our baby girl! We appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and promise to pay your kindness forward in the future.
With Love, Sean and Breanna Buckler

After 2 years of applying to more than 100 cases, we've finally been matched! Our birthmom is all the way in California and is due in early June. Her pregnancy is going well, with all doctor visits indicating a healthy baby girl. Thanks again to everyone for all your generous donations so far. Together we will make our dream come true!

Today Breanna's local Humane Society hosted an event at a large scale flea market. Anyone could come and set up a booth outside all day in exchange for a $25 donation to the Humane Society. This was a perfect opportunity to spread the word about our adoption journey! We handed out our adoption networking cards in hopes of finding someone who could connect us with a birthmother. We picked spot #22 and just so happened to make $222! 2 has always been Breanna's lucky number! All in all, it was a fun experience and hopefully one of those cards will make their way to a woman who is considering adoption.
