Over 20 years ago, we, Garett and Carrie, met in South America. On New Year’s Eve 2025, we will celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary and expand our family through adoption. Starting our life together with our two bands, Caedmon’s Call and Alathea, was perfect then, and now we run Studiobuell, LLC, an architectural photography company based in the world’s music capital —a dream come true. Despite two decades of infertility and challenges, we are at peace with adoption and excited to welcome two girls, two beautiful sisters, into our family.
Now, with hearts brimming with excitement, we are ready to go beyond our comfort zones, trusting the process and the constant nurturing of our faith in Jesus Christ. With each new day, we joyfully put fear aside and say “yes” to our Brazilian adventure.
From the moment we discovered the profiles of our beautiful Brazilian sisters (yes, that’s right — there are two of them, and we already claim them as ours), we felt a deep connection in our hearts as if they were destined to be our daughters. The decision was clear for both of us.
We have now embarked on a crowdfunding journey to support our adoption process and create a nurturing community for our future children. Our goal is to raise at least half of the funds needed to cover adoption fees and expenses in Brazil, including essential therapy and healthcare costs upon our return.
As we prepare to travel to Brazil this fall, our hearts are full of anticipation to bring the girls home. To make this journey possible, we need to raise $18,000 to cover travel expenses and essential return costs, including medical care and therapy. Your support would be a beacon of hope and a truly transformative gift. December 26, 2024MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS! It’s incredible to think how much has happened in just a year! In the Autumn of 2023, Garett and I began to seriously consider adoption, and it quickly became a journey filled with hope and purpose. We found an adoption agency that felt just right, which was a big step for us. Surprisingly, we decided to pursue international adoption, starting our journey in India before being led to Brazil. So many countries have tugged at our hearts for so long, but our path to Brazil felt like a true divine intervention. It’s been a year overflowing with emotions and growth.
As we reflect on our statement from early 2024, it is heartening to acknowledge the significant strides we've made over the past year. In the midst of uncertainty, many have inquired about our progress, and I am filled with optimism as I estimate that we have surpassed the 75% mark. This milestone underscores the critical importance of fundraising at this juncture. There is a palpable sense of urgency in our mission to rally support and raise awareness.
With hope in our hearts, we anticipate beginning meaningful discussions with the girls very soon. We remain steadfast in our plans to embark on our journey to meet them in the spring. As we look ahead, it feels like the right moment to start arranging the details of our trip, embracing the promise of connection and collaboration that awaits us on this beautiful adventure to Brazil

It has been over 20 years since we first met in South America. On this coming New Year's Eve of 2024, we plan to not only be very close to doubling our family in size through the gift of Adoption but also celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.
What an adventure it has been! We started our marriage touring with our separate bands, Caedmon's Call and Alathea. Two decades later, we run an Architectural Photography Company called Studiobuell, LLC, in the world's music capital. We could never have envisioned this journey, yet here we are, fully aware that it is ours, and the moment is now. We always hoped to grow a family, but we battled infertility for those 2 decades of our marriage. While we were always open to adoption, we never thought it would become our only option.
Now, with hearts brimming with excitement, we are ready to step beyond our comfort zones, trusting in the unfolding process and nurturing our faith in God. With each new dawn, we joyfully set fear aside and say "yes" to our Brazilian adventure.
