Hunter + Bailee Bullock
are adopting a child from India
Our family is growing!
We are so excited to share we are pursuing international adoption!
So, why adoption?
- A few years ago, three words — look after orphans — took root in the soil of our imagination. No grand vision. No dream. No bolt of lightning. Just firm conviction. Conviction that caring for the most vulnerable isn’t reserved for some, isn’t optional, and isn’t negotiable. God just simply says “look after orphans.” There are many ways to “look after” the most vulnerable. We feel that, for us, it’s through adoption.
Where are you in the process?
- We have officially completed our Home Study! Now that interviews and evaluations are complete, we can now begin compiling documents needed to compete what’s called an I-800A form (Application for Determination of Suitability to Adopt a Child). When this form is complete, it will be sent to the U.S. Immigration office for review. Once it’s received, the U.S. Immigration office will make a determination on our fittedness to adopt internationally. Yes…quite a big deal, and we welcome your prayers!
What will it cost?
- As you can imagine, adoption isn’t cheap. The cost of exams, appointments, paperwork, not to mention travel to and from country, adds up. So, we are setting a goal to raise $45,000.
In addition to being a platform for donations, we’ll use this page to provide running updates and prayer requests. Whether or not you decide to donate, we hope you follow along and join us in prayer.
James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans…”

Update 2
Our Home Study is Complete!
May 30, 2026Last Wednesday, we completed the third and final Home Study interview – WOOHOO! This meeting covered educational materials we've been working through over the past couple of months. It proved really helpful to process everything we've been learning with our case worker, and we came away feeling much more energized about the rest of the process!
So...what's next?
Now that interviews and evaluations are complete, we can now begin compiling documents needed to compete what's called an I-800A form (Application for Determination of Suitability to Adopt a Child). When this form is complete, it will be sent to the U.S. Immigration office for review. Once it's received, the U.S. Immigration office will make a determination on our fittedness to adopt internationally. Yes...quite a big deal, and we welcome your prayers!
To celebrate finishing the Home Study, and to energize us for what's ahead, we made an ice cream run to Jeni's! Admittedly, we don't need much convincing to go to Jeni's, but this one was extra special. And don't let the photo fool you, Arlee was just as excited as we were to get ice cream!

Update 1
Over Halfway Done With Our Home Study!
April 27, 2026Today we completed the second of three total interviews for our Home Study, which means we're now officially over halfway through the Home Study portion of the adoption process! Whereas the first interview took place in our home and included both of us at the same time, this second interview was held in a local office and conducted individually. The majority of this second interview consisted of questions from our case worker related to our upbringing, lifestyle, marriage, and overall health, among other things. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the multifaceted nature of adoption and the reality of welcoming a child into our home that has likely experienced a significant amount of trauma at such a young age. We're learning how to prepare ourselves and our home to be all that our child will need!
We've mentioned the seemingly endless amount of paperwork involved in the Home Study, but, now that we're past the halfway point, are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! "What exactly is all this paperwork?" Great question. Everything from medical forms and examination records to marriage assessments to special needs consideration forms. But paperwork jokes aside, all of these documents and forms have provided us a unique opportunity to both resume and begin healthy dialogue on a range of topics relevant to adoption. We're thankful for the growth this process has already brought and will bring!
