We met in 2016 and what started as a friendship soon became a partnership based on shared values, respect, faith, and deep affection. Over the years, we’ve built a life together that’s grounded in love, trust, and a shared dream: to become parents.
Our journey has not been without its challenges. In 2005 Kevin learned his diagnosis of Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome—a rare genetic disorder—would likely impact our ability to have a healthy child. VHL is a condition that causes tumors to grow in various parts of the body, often affecting vital organs like the kidneys, pancreas, eyes, and brain. While he’s been managing his health with medical care and ongoing treatments, the uncertainty of how VHL might impact our ability to have a family has always weighed heavily on us.
From the very beginning of our relationship, Christine (who has always dreamed of becoming a mother) knew that adoption was her calling. She has a heart full of love to give, and Kevin has seen her care for others in ways that make him proud every day. Together, we’ve always known that if we were going to start a family, it would be through adoption.
We’re ready to open our hearts and our home to a child who needs the love and stability that we have to offer. We are beyond excited, but as anyone who has been through this process knows, it comes with a significant financial commitment. The costs of adoption—home study fees, legal fees, medical expenses, etc.—can reach amounts exceeding $40,000.
We’re reaching out to our community for help in making our dream a reality. Your contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward covering the costs of our adoption process. We’ve always believed in the power of community, and we know that with your help, we can create the family we’ve always dreamed of.
Adoption is a whole lot of hurry up and wait mixed with a lot of unknowns. But it has only strengthened our resolve to bring a child into our home. Every day, we remind ourselves of how lucky we are to have each other, and we are so grateful for the love and support we’ve received along the way.
