I have BIG news!
I am in the process of domestic newborn adoption!
I am beyond excited and doing everything I can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into my home. As part of my adoption process, I have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $60,000 or more, with my expected costs to be around $30,000. I am so grateful for the AdoptTogether platform to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
Becoming a single adoptive parent won't be possible without the love and support from my closest friends and family. Financial contributions aside, I hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community I hope to build around my child as he/she grows up. Thank you for simply being a part of my circle through this journey.
I've been quiet for the past few weeks, but I think it is safe to say welcome to the world Hannah Grace! After being matched with an expectant mother in November, she changed her mind just before Christmas. What followed was multiple expectant mothers inquiring about me. I had a very strong feeling that my baby would be born in January. On January 6th, I felt the urge to wash baby clothes and get the car seat ready (which I didn't). On January 7, I woke up in the middle of the night with the urge to install the car seat base. I figured I would do it after work on January 8. At 1pm on January 8, I got a call that a baby girl was born on January 6 and her birth mother had decided to place her for adoption. What has followed has been a 3 week whirlwind! Hannah is small, but mighty and already an overcomer. There is still some legal things that we are working through, but Hannah is my baby girl that I have prayed for!
I received a phone call today that a birth mother has chosen me to parent her child! I will be meeting her in the coming weeks and the baby is due in February! I cannot believe this is really happening!!
Thank you for all of your support so far on my journey. It has been a busy month! I am now officially waiting to be matched! You can find my profile on my agency website, www.openarmsadopt.com. At this point, I could get a call at any time. I attended a newborn basics class and have an active baby registry at https://www.babylist.com/list/kiesha-cole
I have painted the baby's room as I get ready to be a mommy!
I have completed my homestudy and am approved to adopt! Now I wait for an expectant mother to choose me!
I attended adoptive parent training and had my first social worker visit. Everything went well and is going fast!
