The Cummings family is excited to announce that we are pursuing another adoption! We are confident that there is another little human out there meant to join our family and Cora cannot wait to be a big sister!
While we are much more confident in finding and utilizing the resources available for adoption, we know that there will still be tremendous costs involved in this process. Kristin is currently applying for any and all adoption grants we qualify for and we will be using our savings to cover the initial costs.
However, total adoption costs in 2022 are estimated to be between $35,000-$40,000 for a domestic infant adoption. This amount has increased substantially since we first adopted Cora in 2017.
We are hopeful that we can complete our second adoption with as little debt as possible. During our first adoption we covered about 1/3 of the cost through an adoption loan and this time around we plan to work very hard on saving money and utilizing grant funds to complete this adoption with less/no debt.
We are appreciative of everyone who has expressed a desire to support us financially and emotionally through this process. This is a NO PRESSURE fundraiser as we are incredibly grateful for any amount you can give and/or a simple a message encouraging us in our journey if you cannot support financially.
All funds raised will go directly to our adoption account and be used to cover the costs associated with the adoption process. These include home study costs, placement visits pre and post adoption, attorney fees, birth mother assistance (up to $4000 allowed in Indiana), and educational expenses. We are also open to a special needs adoption which will of course incur potential additional medical expenses. We were not prepared when Cora went through the withdrawal process and spent 3 weeks in the NICU and so we are looking ahead to be more prepared for unexpected expenses this time around!
