Short Version:
WE ARE FINALLY ABLE TO ADOPT OUR LITTLE GUY!!!
Ben, Mackenzie and I appreciate all of you so much and want to thank everyone in advance for the prayers and support! We have tried hard to be as self-sufficient as we can in saving our little guy but need help for what we hope to be the final fight! Unfortunately, we will not know what the final adoption expenses will be until the end. I’ve set the goal after speaking to our lawyer in what I hope will be high enough to cover any situation.
Long Version:
For those that don’t know us, please read our little guy’s story below. I’m sorry it doesn’t have all the details. His birth parent’s stories and our little guy’s struggles aren’t mine to share publicly. This situation may be the hardest thing we have ever been through but we have to always remember that they gave us one of our biggest blessings.
Early in 2022 we were contacted by DCBS about a child that would benefit if placed temporarily in a family members home. After many quick prayers we decided that we would accept. Our sweet daughter was eight years old at the time and also agreed that we should help our family. Things happened very fast….we passed a home study Friday and received temporary custody of the two month old baby the next Thursday. Without getting into case details, the next nine months consisted of court battles until we were granted permanent custody. Currently, the little guy is 23 months old and his situation changed again which allows us to fight to adopt him. For those that are unaware of family custody laws. Adoption is the ONLY way that we can guarantee that he gets to always remain with us. The state of Kentucky does not make this process easy. The family member that fights for adoption is responsible for all costs.
I know you don’t have all the details but 2022 was easily the hardest year of our lives. Our family was never given time to adequately prepare our hearts, home or finances and honestly had no clue that we were going to have fight so hard for him. This little boy is everything we didn’t know we needed, the most unexpected blessing. He has overcome EVERY obstacle so far and we feel that he deserves to always live with the family he loves and the ones who will love and support him through any additional struggles he faces. We love and choose him for who he is and will never give up on him.
It is extremely emotional to ask for help but we need the prayers and support of our community. Thank you all again!
