Big News: I’m Adopting a Child!

I’m thrilled to share that I am on the journey to become a mom through adoption! After starting this process late last year, I am filled with hope and excitement as I prepare to welcome a child into my life.

This journey is especially meaningful to me because I am adopting from Colombia—the very country where I was born and adopted myself in 1984. The same organization that helped me find my family all those years ago will now help me build my own family. Life has truly come full circle!

As you may know, international adoption is a complex and expensive process. The total costs for a Colombian adoption can reach up to $50,000, covering agency fees, legal and translation services, application expenses, travel, and a required 6-week stay in Colombia to finalize the adoption. To help make this dream possible, I’ve set a fundraising goal of $35,000 to offset these significant expenses.

Every dollar saved on fees will help make a huge difference in our first weeks together since I don’t have access to traditional paid maternity leave as a small business owner. This means that every day I take off to bond with my child is a day without income.
