The Lord first placed adoption on Megan's heart about 2 years ago and the burden to show love to a child without a family steadily grew. She could not imagine not having a home, not having a family, let alone being a child without a home or family. Throughout that time, God placed children with "mean adults" in front of Megan, showing her the heartbreak of the mistreatment of innocent sons and daughters. Megan continually prayed over these situations and into the prayer burden she felt. The desire to adopt turned into a calling and purpose from above. What started as mentioning adoption casually led to asking Matt to seriously pray over the matter. Matt prayed and talked with friends to try and gain more clarity on the matter, wanting to be certain it was God's will for our family. Eventually, during a trip to Prayer Mountain, NC, Matt boldly asked God for a clear sign if we should adopt or not. Asking for signs is not something he usually does and not only did Matt ask for a sign, but he named the sign, as well! Matt specifically asked God to see a baby animal and that God would make it obvious. He did not immediately share the prayer request with Megan either. God graciously and very promptly gave Matt an undeniable sign that His answer was "yes." Later in the evening of that same day, Matt and Megan were driving and had to stop the truck because 3 deer had come out into the road in front of them. The last deer.. a baby. To further reinforce the sign, Megan (who again did not know of the prayer request) said "Aww, a baby!" We are so grateful for the opportunity to give a child a stable, life where they will be loved everyday.
