Help us welcome Kiara’s baby brother into our family!

We adopted our daughter Kiara at birth two years ago, and now our family is preparing for something unexpected and wonderful: the opportunity to adopt her biological baby brother due in October. Keeping them together is something really important to us, and we’re excited to be growing our family!

Adoption is a meaningful and important way to build a family, but it comes with financial challenges. Transparently, the total cost of this adoption will exceed $60,000, due to agency and legal fees across two states, travel, childcare, and birth family support. While we’re both fortunate to be employed, this is an unexpected and overwhelming expense that we hadn’t prepared for.

We’re moving forward with the adoption regardless, but we’re turning to our community to ask for support for anyone who’s able to help. We know there are many important causes that need resources right now, so we don’t take this ask lightly. Any amount of support is truly appreciated. If you’re unable to donate but have hand me downs you’d be able to share, that would be very helpful as well. We had recently donated all of our newborn supplies not expecting this opportunity, so we’re working on gathering items that we’ll need when the baby arrives.

    Hello to our amazing donors!

    Apologies this message has taken so long — adjusting to two kiddos definitely takes some time! Baby Kai is already 6 months old and he is the happiest, most chill little dude. He is always smiling and giggling and loves to take in the world around him. He is also an amazing sleeper!

    Kai is completely obsessed with his big sister Kiara, and the feeling is mutual. She is always singing to him, talking to him, tickling him, and showing him her toys. Watching the two of them together is everything. They already have such a special bond and we are so happy they will be growing up together.

    We are so grateful for your support in helping us navigate this adoption. Thank you again for your generosity.

    Baby boy is here!

    October 21, 2025

    Kairo Alexander Girard was born on 10/15 at 2:44pm, 10lbs and 22” tall! He’s such a sweet baby and is doing really well. Kiara is already thrilled with being a big sister and can’t stop giggling and saying “awww” every time she passes by his bassinet. She also sings him a mash up of twinkle twinkle and baa baa black sheep each night before bed. We’re expecting to be back home in Los Angeles this coming weekend once paperwork clears.

    Home Study Is Complete!

    Hi everyone,

    We're excited to say that we just completed our Home Study. This part of the adoption process typically takes at least three months, and we did it in just one! Through your support, the costs of Home Study were covered by a grant from AdoptTogether. Thank you again for donating. We appreciate you! With the Home Study completed, we're approved to adopt. Baby boy is due in just 7 weeks!
