Hi friends!
We are so excited to share that we are growing our family through adoption! We are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful kiddo into our home. Adoption has always been in our hearts and we look forward to this adventure.
While it's hard to ask, we would appreciate any support you're willing to give to assist with the high financial costs associated with the adoption process. We expect to spend up to $75k through the adoption process, having already paid out-of-pocket/savings/investments ~$28k: $19k to an agency, $3k for legal fees and approval to adopt, and $5k to a consultant. We're not looking to "recoup" any of the money already spent, and anything "above and beyond" will be invested for the kiddo.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as they grow up. Your donations through this page will be tax-deductible and will go directly to our attorney.
We cannot say thank you enough for any support you are able to give, and we ask for your thoughts and prayers as we walk through this process.
Emma & Josh
Thanks so much for your donation! Unfortunately, AdoptTogether doesn't let us know who gifted anonymously, and Wyatt would like to send a thank you card and photo. Please email or text Emma to let us know how we can address the card! [email protected], or 847-644-0416.
Wow, what a whirlwind life has been! On Friday morning, May 3, I (Emma) received a call from our agency asking if we would like to be considered for an adoption situation with a mom currently in labor in our home state. Josh and I discussed it quickly and decided, why not throw our names in the hat? At 1 p.m., I received a call from the birth mother's attorney, and 5 hours later our paperwork was done and baby was in our arms. Wyatt Alexander arrived healthy and happy, and birth mom experienced no complications. While in the hospital, Josh and I enjoyed time getting to know Wyatt's birth mother and birth father - lovely people who made an adoption plan to give their son a better life. We spent 6 days in the hospital before discharging home late Thursday evening, with incredible friends and family stepping in to help cover us at work and home during this incredible and remarkable time. Wyatt continues to grow and is a great baby that we are so thankful to raise. He is already so loved and has been showered by many family and friends. Our adoption finalization is expected to take place in August, with our court date pending. We will not post photos on social media until finalization, just as a precaution, but donors will receive a special photo and thank you card in the mail. <3 Thank you all for making adoption possible for our family; Wyatt is the ultimate gift.
Hello friends! I know we've said this before, but it's hard to believe we've been on the adoption journey for more than a year. We've learned a lot about the process during that time (honestly, I could write a book on it all!), and decided it was time to make a change in our journey. Josh and I began working with a consultant this week, who will support us with education/training, emotional support, and guidance, as well as present us as potential parents to mothers. This is a wonderful thing for us, as it's both a support network AND allows us to be seen by more mothers. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers - we feel your support! - Emma and Josh
Friends and family, it's hard to believe we started the adoption process a year ago! It simultaneously feels like it was yesterday that we started interviewing agencies, and yet we've learned so much that our anniversary feels right. We spent some time this weekend touching up the nursery, and it brings us so much joy. One day, when the time is right, it will be a great, safe space for our child to learn and grow. In the meantime, we dream and hold onto hope for 2024. - Josh & Emma
Just a quick update to share that we are still waiting. Our agency coordinator has confirmed that this waiting process is very normal and reiterated that she hopes to connect us with an expectant mother soon. In the meantime, we have started training for the Turkey Trot and Emma's crocheting octopi to donate to NICU babies. Thanks for your support, and wishing everyone a wonderful Halloween!
