We are Rodney and Rashon from Georgia, both first responders committed to serving our community. For the past two years, we’ve been pursuing adoption as the path to grow our family. This journey has not been easy, but we are resilient—especially as Rashon is a cancer survivor who has faced life’s toughest challenges with strength and courage.
Our path to adoption is rooted in both deep desire and lived experience. Infertility brought significant grief, including the loss of the opportunity to experience pregnancy and childbirth. While that pain was real, it also strengthened our bond and reminded us that family is built through love, not biology.
Through this journey, Rashon has embraced being a stepparent to Rodney’s child with full love and commitment. This experience has reinforced what we believe at our core: family is created through presence, consistency, and unconditional care.
We have taken time to grieve what could not be, allowing us to fully embrace adoption with clarity and hope. To us, adoption is not a second choice—it is the way we are meant to build our family. We approach it with empathy, understanding that it also begins with loss for a child, and we are prepared to support them with compassion and care.
Along the way, we have experienced two failed adoptions, each bringing deep emotional heartbreak and significant financial loss due to unreimbursed legal, travel, and agency expenses. These setbacks have been difficult, but they have also strengthened our faith, resilience, and commitment to continue forward.
As we approach the end of our current agency contract, we are facing additional fees to continue this journey. Any support—through grants or fundraising—would help ease the financial burden and allow us to keep moving forward.
More than anything, your support helps turn years of hope, love, and perseverance into the reality of becoming parents. We are ready to welcome a child into our home and love them unconditionally.
