We are growing our family through adoption!

Adoption is something that I (Katelyn) have always hoped would be a part of my personal story and is something I shared with Micah early in our relationship. After conversations with adoptive parents, adoptees, and adoption professionals, it was clear that pursuing adoption was our next step and we signed on with Mustard Seed Adoption Consultants in February of 2024.

While adoption has always been a priority for us, we also spent time pursuing pregnancy. After receiving an infertility diagnosis, we learned we were good candidates for treatment. We chose to go through one round before changing our adoption status to “active” and were incredibly blessed with a healthy pregnancy and the birth of our sweet daughter. Now, we’re more than ready—and deeply excited—to continue growing our family through adoption.

We have kicked off an intentional fundraising campaign as part of our adoption journey. We are expecting our adoption expenses to be $55,000-$65,000, and ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us in our fundraising goal of $45,000. If you feel led to join us in this way, we are boldly asking for partnerships in the amount of $50, $100, $500 and $1,000. You can partner with us via AdoptTogether, or directly via check. Please know that whichever way you choose to give, all donations will be directed solely to our adoption expenses. We look forward to providing routine financial updates via social media as we facilitate adoption expenses and press on toward our fundraising goal!

Lastly, we want to acknowledge that as we hold anticipation and hope, expectant mothers often hold grief and loss. Adoption is a uniquely wonderful and difficult journey…a combination of good and heavy realities. Beautiful and heartbreaking. Gain and loss. Joy and sorrow. As adoptive parents, we hope to hold this tension well and always honor our child’s birth family, culture, and story.
