We have exciting news - we are adopting! We are so thrilled to be getting closer to bringing a little one home. We are currently approved/completed our home study, and are awaiting to be matched with a baby. Birth mother’s are given the choice to choose which family their child is adopted into, which means our wait could be a few weeks or a few years. There are many parts to an adoption, and fees that go along with it. The fees are not “buying a baby,” but rather taking care of the numerous paperwork and hours these professionals are spending to make sure this is an ethical adoption.

Our primary expenses will be towards our adoption agency which will initiate paperwork, keep our home study up-to-date and filed, and communication with everyone. Our fees for this portion will be around $28,000. On top of this, we will need to hire an attorney in VA, and maybe in another state if the child is born elsewhere, which averages $5,000. We will also be responsible for some of the mothers and babies medical (average $5,000) in the last few weeks of pregnancy that are not covered under the mothers policy. Lastly, we will need to travel and stay in the town the baby is born in, including potential flights, hotels, and food for a minimum 7-10 days.

With all of that, we are looking at an average cost of $38,000+. We would be so honored and blessed if you feel called to help reduce our costs and bring this child home, and ultimately out of the foster care system. This is why we set the goal of $15,000 to offset the financial burden that can be overwhelming to adoptive parents. We hope that inviting you into this process, you will be apart of the community for our future child.

Summer Time
June 15, 2026

Summer is upon us, and we have found ourselves quite busy. We love the sunny days and all the summer-time fun, even with everything going on.

We have no major updates at the moment, but we have been working on updating our website and videos. We have been continuing to post more regular updates on our Facebook page (Koleman and Lizzy Adopt) also.

Preparing this Lent
March 8, 2026

During this lent, we are continuing to prepare our hearts, minds, and home for our future child. We have been prepping the nursery more, and continuing to educate ourselves on many different adoption and parenting topics. We have yet to be matched, but keep hope and faith in the Lord. Please continue to pray for us.

Waiting in Hope Still
December 14, 2025

As we near the Christmas season, we have continued to prepare our home and hearts to welcome a little one. We have not yet been matched with a mother and baby, but are hopeful in God's perfect timing it will happen. Join us in prayer as we wait. We have been reflecting a lot pondering what it was like for St. Joseph to be the foster father to Jesus. It gives us great hope, peace, and reassurance that God has a plan, and it will be greater than we could imagine.

Hello all,

Thank you again for the love, support and prayers. We have no major updates as of yet. We have started sharing more about our wait and wishes for our future child on facebook in hopes to share our story. Ultimately, we hope to reach someone that is currently making the choice to place their child through adoption. Waiting in hope

Hello! We are holding on to hope in this time of waiting. We recently received a matching grant through Lifesong, and are so thankful for that, and for all of you. We are trusting that God has a glorious plan for our life. We have been focusing our prayer on the safety and health of our future child and their mother, and invite others to join us in prayer. We are so excited to see what comes next within the waiting.
