We're adopting! We've made it through the paperwork and are waiting to be matched with a birth parent.
We've been in the process of growing our family through adoption for a few years now so we have done much to prepare even from the help from some of you reading this. Thank you to whose have helped and continue to help!
The challenges of adoption include complicated steps, nuanced laws, emotional investment and detachment, and of course, cost. From our research and experience, domestic adoptions range in cost from $40,000 to $80,000 and are increasing each year at rates as high as 20%.
We've saved a hefty amount for this, however, we had a failed match in October 2021 that resulted in us paying a large at-risk fee and we still find that we are not keeping up with yearly match fee increases. To make adoption an affordable option for us, we are asking for your help in fundraising IF that's an option for you. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as they grow up!
