Aloha, we're Grace (26) & Morgan (29), & our dogs, Luna (Black), & Hugo (Brown)!
We live in Maui and are adopting a baby from Hawai'i (Most likely Oahu)! We've been together 6 years and married for almost 3. We "matched" on a dating app, "Hot or Not" when we were 37 miles apart. Morgan was in college and Grace "unmatched" him due to distance. We rematched 3 years later and were now 1.4 miles apart. We’ve been inseparable since!
We began our adoption in January 2023 and have been waiting to be matched with a birth mom since May! Grace was adopted from Vietnam at 3 months and brought to her forever home, America! We hoped to conceive our first baby and adopt our second, but Grace has reoccurring health issues that took precedence. Her doctor suggested we wait and we ultimately chose adopting first was best.
We've paid for the first half of our adoption ourselves (Paperwork, classes/training, home check fees, etc…) The second half covers the birth mom's hospital bill/postnatal care, the placement of the baby (Relinquishment), and readoption in family court. This excludes baby items/gear. The second half of the adoption’s the most expensive.
We move every year-2 years for Morgan's job (Manager at a car rental company). This is our 2nd state and 5th move in 2.5 years. Our goal is to move 2-3 more times before "settling". Moving's the fastest way to move up in Morgan's company (Position/salary-wise). We chose this because we knew if we began our goal right after marriage, our future family will live financially comfortable before most people/families our age. Morgan'll be at his goal position/salary before his mid 30's and his end salary goal and to retire by his early 50’s. Our whole plan’s based on our current family of 4 (Our dogs are our babies) and our future family. We’ll do our best to struggle less as some of our families have and provide our kids with a contended life they deserve.
Unfortunately, til then we're stuck catching up financially due to constant moving, living in Maui, and now with the adoption.
The financial difficulties of adopting are never easy and especially with our moves, it's almost impossible without help. If you decide to donate, we thank you from the very bottom of our hearts as we’re endlessly grateful for your generosity. Truly can’t express our gratitude and how much this means to us!
We understand some aren’t able to contribute to our fund. There’s more ways to help us than financially! You may share our GoFundMe on social media or to your family and friends! You may also be emotionally supportive as some haven’t been as supportive as we hoped. Any type of support is contributing to growing our family!
Our lives are tremendously touched by adoption in many ways. God put adoption in our life for a reason and we trust he’ll hand us the baby that’ll make our hearts full. We can’t wait to create our own family through it!
Mahalo for taking the time reading our story, we appreciate it!
With much aloha, Grace & Morgan ♥️
