Hello friends and family!
As you all know, I have been officially on this adoption journey since September of 2020 when I attended my first informational meeting with what would become the agency I work with. But spiritually, I would argue I have been on this journey since long before my soul entered this lifetime (those of you who know the story of my psychic reading know what I'm talking about!). I decided very intentionally at the age of TEN that I would adopt one day. As a Kuch, I am committed and persistent (some might call this tunnel vision). So here we are.
I have worked very hard the past few years with my business and an extra gig teaching piano lessons to try to fund this adoption myself. (Pride and difficulty asking for help is also a Kuch trait.) This plan was a lot more plausible if I were to match with the agency I am working with. But with the limitation of matching opportunities within the clientele of one agency and years of no movement, I began working with an adoption consultant, and the fees that come along with casting a wider net are simply impossible for me to fund on my own. Adoption is unfortunately not federally regulated, which leads to fees driven ever higher and inaccessibility for many who wish to grow their family via adoption.
I am working on applying for several grants, and I am hopeful. But the time has come for me to turn to my community. Consider this the bridal shower, bachelorette party, and wedding I never had. :)
