  Dearest friends...

  We wanted to give you a little update on our adoption. At the end of August, a week before the baby was to be born, the mom we were matched with decided to parent him. We are very supportive of her decision, as we believe that, where possible, a child should stay with their parents! We are honored to have walked part of a very difficult journey with her and her little one, and hope that regardless of the outcome, she was able to feel the love of Jesus through our care and support.

  Nonetheless, the last month has been a month of grieving and processing for our hearts...grieving the loss of what we thought life would look like, asking God questions about WHY we had to go through a failed adoption, processing what the future might bring. We feel peace to continue to pursue adoption from the US, and are back in the matching phase. Waiting. Not always patiently, but waiting. Trusting. Hoping.

  "I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD". Psalm 27:13-14

  Thank for your journeying with us. We will keep you posted as we know more. Please be lifting up our hearts (especially our kids), and for the little one that will one day join our family, and his mama. They are already so precious to us.

  We can hardly believe it…

  WE’RE MATCHED!!! 💛👶🏼

  One week ago today, we got the long-awaited phone call with incredible news that an expectant mama — due in September — has chosen our family to adopt her baby. 🥹💫

  The past week has been a whirlwind of emotion. We’re increasingly aware of how big and brave this mama’s decision is, and we don’t take that lightly. At the same time, we’re so full of hope and excitement about the possibility of growing our family through adoption — something that’s been on our hearts since before we got married. ❤️

  There’s too much to fit into one post, but we are overwhelmed with how clearly the Father has guided this journey. The timing, the connections, even the state the baby will be born in (one of the quickest for finalization — a big deal when you live overseas!) — it all feels so…right.

  ✨ So many potential hurdles have simply fallen away.

  We were only being shown “boy” cases until recently, when we felt a nudge to open ourselves to “gender unknown.” The very first case we saw after that shift? This mama. This baby. This YES. 💛

  We submitted our profile more than 12 hours past the deadline, and didn’t meet every piece of her criteria… but we felt led to try anyway. We’re so glad we did!

  Even us living in China wasn’t a disqualifier. It was actually one of the main reasons she chose our family! 🌏

  And in a wild turn of events, our anticipated adoption expenses have been cut nearly in HALF(!) due to some unforeseen circumstances — yet another sign of grace on this path.

  We’re a little bit in shock, just soaking it all in, and can’t wait to share more over the next weeks and months.

  For now, we just wanted to let you all know…
  A baby is coming. We’ve been chosen. And we are so, so grateful. ✨
