Corey and Sarah Lewis
are adopting a child from United States of America
We have amazing news!
We are almost done with the adoption process! Josiah will be officially ours on December 22nd with his court hearing for adoption finalization. Just in time for his birthday on December 26th!
Many of you may be surprised to learn that adoption expenses normally costs between $18,000 and $35,000. While we have been fortunate enough to pay off most of the costs using our savings, retirement funds, and every extra cent we could muster, we are sadly still not able to finish paying our final expenses. That is why we started a crowdfunding page with a goal of raising $6,275.00 the last funds needed to finalize everything.
Unfortunately, in Ohio the court will not allow us to finalize the adoption in December unless all associated costs are paid first. With that being said we would appreciate any donations you are able to provide to help us complete our longed for family.
Our Story
Corey and I met in High School on the school bus. While we both had a crush on each other we did not actually start dating until many years later in 2011. From July 11th, 2011 we were inseparable.
A few years later we began to start trying for our much longed for family. Unfortunately, we spent many years trying to create our family and were unable to, due to fertility issues. After a lot of heartbreak we turned to fostering to hopefully help us create the family we longed for.
Corey was himself a foster child so it was something very dear to our hearts. We are still currently foster parents and enjoy it very much but all of the amazing children who were placed in our home and we bonded with were reunified with their biological parents. After a very upsetting loss of three wonderful children who had been with us for 2 years me and Corey were in a very hard and emotional place, but then a light came to us in the form of Josiah’s amazing birth mother. We were acquaintances and she knew we were foster parents who were looking to adopt. Due to the circumstances around his conception and due to hardships she was facing she made the very difficult decision to place Josiah up for adoption.
From there it was a whirlwind. His bio mother was already far along in her pregnancy and because Josiah was so excited to meet us he came 3 weeks early giving us only 2 weeks to prepare for his arrival from the date we spoke to his birth mother. From the very moment he was born I knew he was the son we were always meant to have. We named him Josiah as it means God supports and heals and we felt it fit his role in our life perfectly.
At that point we began working with an adoption agency to officially make him ours. We have cut back tremendously on our expenses, picked up extra work and a weekend job, used all of our savings, and been fortunate enough to have some help from family. Even with all the support we are still unable to get the last of the funds together needed to complete this.
It was very hard for us to ask for help but for Josiah we would do absolutely anything. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read about our story. Even if you are unable to donate if you are able to even just share our story with others in the hopes they may be able to help make our dream come true.
