We have big news! We’re adopting!!
Dani and I knew we wanted to have a family even before we were married. We always had plans to have a child on our own as well as go through adoption. We started our journey of building our family in 2020. We went through many heart breaking rounds of insemination which then took us on a journey of IVF. In May of 2021 our dreams started to seem like they were coming true and we were pregnant. We thought all of our hard work, love, hopefulness had finally paid off and our family could officially be started. Unfortunately a few weeks later we were hit with the shattering news and realization that we were having a miscarriage and losing the part of our family we had just created.
It was a hard hole to crawl ourselves out of but knew our hearts still wanted that beautiful family. We decided instead of putting more money and energy into IVF, we would move forward with our adoption plans.
After Dani had taken me to Brazil for the first time in 2022 I knew Brazil was the place we would adopt from. Even though I had already known some about the culture before visiting I really fell in love with the culture and atmosphere. While visiting it wasn’t always the nice you would see. I saw the struggle for most. I saw the children who had nothing but had the biggest hearts and were so grateful for their life. I wish it was possible to bring them home with us. I knew I wanted to give some children a better life and better opportunities.
Exciting news we have been approved for adopting to two children. We are looking to adopt a sibling pair ages 0-7. Most people don’t realize the amount of time, energy, and money it takes to give these children a better life and home. We sure didn’t before doing our research and starting this journey in 2022. Here is a rough breakdown of what some of the expenses international adoption parents can face.
Mind blowing right? We didn’t make this page for people to think they needed to donate some money to us. We made it mostly for people to have a better understanding of what the process can look like time wise, energy wise, and financially. We wanted to bring awareness that sometimes it’s not so easy for people to grow their families and sometimes they need to go through a lot of heartache to get there. Luckily we have a very supportive family that has always stood by our side through the good and the bad.
