In 2020 I was contacted by my mother who was living with my little sister in Colombia. For several years I didn’t know anything about my mother or my sister. We received the terrible news that my little sister was under the care of the ICBF because my mother was a drug addict and they were homelessness. I was studying to become a physician here in USA. We came from Cuba, as immigrants. We have to start from cero. We decided to adopt my sister but we couldn’t start the process until recently because my studies were time and money consuming. I am currently in my second year of Family medicine residency and we need help with the financial burden of an international adoption. We have two beautiful daughters who are always asking me when my sister will be here. I wish I could’ve done with my residency and be able to afford the adoption sooner, but it has been really hard. Any help will be appreciated and a blessed.
