are adopting a child from United States of America
We’re Adopting!!!
After years of waiting, praying, and enduring heartbreaking losses, we are overjoyed to share that we are FINALLY adopting a child!
Adoption has been on our hearts from the start of our relationship over 12 years ago. We felt called by our faith to care for those in need. James 1:27 says, “Caring for orphans and widows in their distress is a pure and faultless form of worship.” This biblical call to love and care for others has been a cornerstone of our journey.
Adoption also holds a special place in our family. Ryan’s younger sister was adopted as an infant, and we’ve seen firsthand the beauty and blessing it can bring. She is now making a difference in the lives of children through her work and her own family, and we couldn’t be prouder of her!
Our own journey to grow our family has been deeply challenging. In 2019, we experienced our first miscarriage, followed by a difficult surgery. In early 2020, during the pandemic, we endured a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery. And in 2022, we faced yet another miscarriage. These years have been grueling and heartbreaking, but through it all, we’ve leaned on prayer, each other, and the love of those around us to guide our next steps.
Over the past few years, we’ve poured ourselves into our work and personal growth. Ryan is now the Maintenance Manager at Vineyard, and I serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor at the Vineyard Counseling Center. We absolutely love what we do, but more than anything, we’ve longed to grow our family. Now, that dream is becoming a reality.
We’re beyond excited to welcome a child into our home and are doing everything we can to prepare for this beautiful new chapter in our lives.
As part of this process, we’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign to help ease the financial burden of adoption. Many people are surprised to learn that adoption-related costs can exceed $35,000. We’ve set a goal of $27,000 to cover expenses such as home studies, legal and agency fees, caseworker services, court costs, and birth mother support.
Your support means the world to us. Whether through donations, prayers, or words of encouragement, you’re helping make this dream possible. Many of you have already walked alongside us through years of prayer and heartbreak, and we cannot thank you enough for your love and faithfulness.
We promise to keep you updated on our adoption journey and can’t wait to introduce you to the sweet little one we’ve been longing for.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our story.

Update 2
Home Study Approved - On to Next Step!!
March 27, 2026Hello everyone,
It’s been a little while since our last update, and we are so grateful for your continued support and encouragement along this journey.
Over the past few months, we have been working hard—completing paperwork, preparing our home, and getting everything ready to welcome a sweet little one. We are so excited to share that our home study is officially complete!!! Praise the Lord!
This is a big step forward, and we are incredibly thankful to be moving into the next phase of the process—one step closer to meeting our future baby. As we enter this new season, we feel both anticipation and a sense of nervousness as we begin the process of being presented to and potentially meeting expectant mothers.
We have been praying often for the birth mother and her baby. She is facing one of the most significant and difficult decisions of her life, and our hearts are deeply with her. We are praying for her courage, clarity, and peace, as well as protection for both her and her child. If you feel led, we would be so grateful for your prayers for this mama and her baby.
We also ask for prayer for us—that we would have wisdom, endurance, and unity as we step into this next phase. The adoption journey can be long and, at times, emotionally challenging, and we want to walk it with steady hearts and trust.
As for what comes next, we are now in the waiting phase to be matched. We will have opportunities to review situations we feel led toward and submit our profile. From there, an expectant mother typically selects a small group of families to meet before ultimately choosing one.
In the meantime, we are continuing to apply for grants, fundraise, and trust in God’s provision. Once we are matched, the remaining $19,000 will be due to secure placement, so we are actively working to prepare for that step in advance.
If you feel led to support us—whether through prayer or financial giving—we would be deeply honored and grateful.
Thank you for being part of our story and for helping bring us one step closer to growing our family. We cannot wait to lavish our love on this sweet little one.

Update 1
The First Milestone is in Sight!
July 29, 2025Hello dear friends and family,
It’s been a few weeks since we launched our adoption website, and we wanted to share a little update with you. First and foremost—thank you. We’ve felt so deeply encouraged by your prayers, kind words, and generous donations. We truly couldn’t do this without the love and support of our people.
We’re excited to share that we’re almost to our first big milestone—$8,000! This amount will cover the cost of our home study and initial agency fees, officially kicking off the adoption process. After that, the remaining $19,000 will be due once we are matched, which could happen anytime in the next year.
We’re working hard to save, brainstorming creative ways to fundraise, and trusting that each step will come together in its time. Because I’m self-employed, we’re also setting aside funds to cover maternity leave. I’m grateful to be able to take time off when the baby arrives, but no work means no income—so we’re planning ahead as best we can!
If you feel led, we would love your continued support—through prayer, financial gifts, or simply sharing our story. Every little bit helps and reminds us that we’re not alone in this.
Thank you for being part of Team Matthews. We’re already dreaming about this little one—who they’ll be, what they’ll love, and how loved they’ll feel because of you. We can’t wait to meet them.
With full hearts,
Ryan & Taylor
