We are so excited to share that we are in the process of adopting a child! Both of us have felt drawn to adoption for a long time and always knew it would be a part of our family’s story. We are beyond excited to start working towards expanding our family and can’t wait to shower a new baby with love.

It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $60,000 (or more!) so we have set up this campaign to help ease the financial burden that otherwise could easily be overwhelming. We will also be paying to travel and staying in a hotel once the baby is born for at least a week, possibly several weeks, while we coordinate and get approval to bring the baby home to Florida.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as they grow up. We are very happy to have your support and cannot wait for the next steps in this journey.

    Starting the Home Study Paperwork

    We found an agency that we really like and feel connected to. We have started the process of preparing for the home study (usually the first step in adoptions - you have to have it approved before you can move forward with being matched to a birth mother). The process is a long one - it incudes physicals/medical clearance, letters of recommendation, both local and federal background checks, a visit from a social worker to our house, and a VERY long questionnaire. All in all, it costs $1,500 for the home study plus the fees associated with the background checks (over $100) and physicals. We are excited to get through this somewhat painful process as having a home study approved will bring us one step closer in the adoption process! We put up our Christmas tree this year and hope that by this time next year, we'll either have a new baby at home to celebrate with or be well on our way towards growing our family!

    Getting Started

    Christian and I have been talking to various adoption agencies to see which one seems to fit best with what we want for our adoption journey. We are getting ready to sign a contract in the next few weeks (which requires about $20k up front). We are so excited to get the ball rolling and take this next step!
