Todd & Katie Moody

are adopting a child from Honduras

Our adoption is almost done! It is with humble hearts that we ask for your help.

Many of you have been a part of our long, hard journey that started with a sweet, little baby girl being placed in our home in Honduras through foster care in April, 2017. When we began our missionary journey in 2015, we knew God was calling us to help care for the children through both our personal family and ministry. This precious baby girl was a true orphan with no known biological family. She quickly stole our hearts; especially, of her new “siblings” Andrew, Conner, & Wesley. We have been with her through her foster care journey, official Honduran abandonment process, the matching committee, while her case was in front of judges, and now over 7 years later during the final review.

As of January, 2025, Bella’s case is in the last steps of review, and we are praying for no errors or typos to be found during this final review. Once review is complete, to schedule a date for the final signatures on the document in the children’s services offices in the capital of Tegucigalpa. The hope is for this meeting to take place in February, 2025. There are several final adoption expenses that need to be covered, including: the last payment to our Honduran adoption lawyer, at least 2 or 3 trips to Tegucigalpa on the mainland from the island we live on, and expenses for birth certificate updates, passport, & a visa.

We would be extremely grateful for any support you’re able to provide.

With all the love and gratitude in our hearts,

Todd & Katie

    Visa Needed

    September 6, 2025

After nearly eight years of advocacy and perseverance, we are overjoyed that Bella is now legally our daughter. The process was often long and difficult, but seeing Bella recognized as part of our family has brought us immense joy. We have also updated her Honduran birth certificate and secured her Honduran passport.

Because we adopted through a Honduran domestic adoption while living in Honduras, we now face visa challenges for travel this fall while we complete the steps toward U.S. citizenship (a process that is likely to take several years). The current wait for a B2 visa appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Honduras is about 16 months, so we plan to pursue an appointment in a neighboring country (El Salvador or Belize) where wait times are shorter. Approval is not guaranteed, and this plan will add unplanned travel costs — so we have updated our fundraising page on AdoptTogether.

Please join us in prayer as we make preparations and seek a visa appointment in another country. We deeply desire for Bella to meet her extended family in the United States and for our supporters to see the child they have prayed for these many years. Traveling together as a complete family is important for our personal well-being and for the sustainability of our ministry work. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support.

Would you consider supporting our AdoptTogether fund to help cover visa travel and related expenses so Bella can come meet your and her family in the U.S.? Any gift helps — and your prayers mean the world to us.

    We have a date!!

    February 6, 2025

God is so good! Join us in celebrating!

Today, we received a phone call to notify us that our date to finalize our adoption is going to be in the capital on February 20th! So 7 years and 10 months of foster care will be complete, and Bella will legally part of our family. We are making plans to travel from the island we live on to the capital on the mainland. After February 20th, we will be able to legally changer her last name to Moody and apply for her Honduran passport.

Thank you all who have been praying with us for all these years. Thank you to all who have loved on Bella and our entire family. Thank you for those who have donated to our adoption fund to make these legal finalizations for our family.

    Love, Todd & Katie
