From the beginning of our relationship, we knew we wanted children. Unfortunately, Katie had been told from a young age that would probably not be possible. Shortly after getting married, we found out we were expecting! The doctors told us to enjoy our precious daughter because it would be "next to impossible, if at all possible" to have another. Two short years later, we were surprised to learn that God was blessing us with another beautiful baby girl!
About the time we decided that maybe it was time to try to add to our family again, our world came to a screeching halt. Kenny was diagnosed with a brain tumor that required a 10 1/2-hour long surgery to remove. Less than a year later, the tumor started to come back and required radiation and chemo. The treatment worked but with a cost, we were told that we would not be able to conceive a child naturally. We took some time to pray on this and move forward but something kept telling us that God still had plans to grow our family. So, we started looking into adoption.
Six years and several agencies later, that dream of welcoming a new bundle of joy into our arms kept feeling just out of reach as the fees kept rising and rising (over $45,000!). Someone at our church recommended we reach out to another agency and that phone call changed everything! Suddenly the dream was back within our grasp. That feeling that we have never lost, the feeling that this is the path God wants us on, is stronger than ever and we are so excited to move to the next step!
We were awarded a grant that will cover a portion of the adoption fees after placement, but we still have to raise the fees before we get to that part. We are asking for help from our friends and family to meet our goal. And as always, we ask that you continue the prayers for our family, our future baby, their birth family and the staff at the adoption agency.
