Hi all,
As you can see, we are a non-traditional family who has been planning for a child for over two years. Over the past year, I have been planning with my sister to adopt a child from her, from conception through the journey of pregnancy. On December 30th, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. We were present at the birth and stayed with her for a week to assist her with postpartum care. We needed to return home to meet with our family lawyer to finalize the adoption process.
At this point, my sister sent us a message stating that she could not relinquish the child. Devastated by this news, we continued to communicate with our caseworker and home study staff, who assured us that we should not give up. Given the challenges we have faced this past year, it would not be in our best interest to let this setback define us. We still recognize that there are individuals in need of our love and support, but we also require your support as well.
