The Park family is adopting!
We are in the final stretch and are looking to raise funds for our travels to Korea to bring home our son.
As many of you already know, we began this adoption process almost 3 years ago. After submitting our application, the adoption agency provided us a timeline of 15 milestones in our adoption journey. 12 down, 3 more to go! One of the most anticipated milestones was being matched over a year ago with a chubby little 6-month-old boy. Since that time, we have been anxiously waiting to bring him home.
The final milestones include 2 trips to Korea. The first will include appearing in court and the second is when we take custody of our son. We will be combining these trips into a single trip to avoid back and forth flights over a short period of time. We are currently waiting for our court date and anticipate being in Korea sometime over the next couple of months. We estimate our travel and accommodation expenses to be at least $12,000 for the 3 of us going to Korea and the 4 of us returning home. We are raising funds here to cover at least some of those expenses (Note: donations are tax deductible).
We are both excited and anxious as we near the end of this adoption process and begin our new life as a family of 4. We are reminded that God gave the both of us a new life when we put our faith in Him decades ago. This began a journey where our plans were not necessarily God’s plans and things haven’t quite worked out as we expected at times. It is in these unplanned moments that we have discovered unexpected parts of the unique story God is crafting for our family. We are excited to discover and live out more of this story through this adoption. We are always happy to share about our adoption journey and how God has been at work in our family, so feel free to reach out to us for more details. Thank you for your support!
After three long years, we are now a family of 4! We took custody of our son and are awaiting our visa interview in order to return home. We are adjusting to a new chapter of our lives and it definitely has its ups and downs. Our boy is adjusting as best as we think possible yet he is grieving in many ways. His cry is so sad to hear but we are thankful that he is relying on us and calling us umma (mommy) and appa (daddy). Our first son is also having a huge adjustment becoming a big brother and there is already some sibling rivalry going on. We can’t wait to wrap things up and head home!
Things have been going smoothly so far here in Korea. We got to meet our boy twice and our court appearance went well. We are beyond happy to let you know that we have received provisional approval of our case and have been assigned a custody date. If every goes as planned, we should be wrapping things up soon over the next few weeks. We are praying that both our boys will adjust well and that they will get along together.
Milestone 13 of 15 reached! Court date set, flight booked, bags packed, Covid test negative, ready to go! We are excited to finally meet our little guy. We have 2 short play dates planned with our boy and then our court date. Updates to follow...
