We have BIG news! We are adopting!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to prepare for this journey of starting a family. We have waited for a long time to be parents, but unfortunately, we have not been able to start a family yet. We have prayed long for God’s wisdom and blessing of having a family. He has reminded us of how He placed adoption in our hearts since we were children ourselves, and has opened our hearts to begin our family through adoption. Just as the Lord has adopted us, and calls us to serve Him through love and compassion for others, we are not only excited to be parents but eager to serve the Lord as adopting parents.
We’ve decided to adopt within the U.S. at this time. Our hearts desire to love and nurture an infant under 1 years of age or a sibling group under 5 years of age.
As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $50,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $50,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. We are incredibly blessed to have such a large and supportive network.
The adoption process can be rather lengthy, 18-36 months and in some cases more, so we will give you regular updates on our progress.

Last year was a difficult one. We thought we matched privately with a young mom with a little one, but it did not work out. We are praying she is doing well with her little one and has all the resources she needs. We are now sharing with our friends and family in Washington to share with others about our hopes of adopting. We have our baby room ready, home study approved, and $14.2K in the adoption account. We are also hoping to work with an attorney in a different state soon, but waiting to hear back! Thank you so much for all your prayers, your support, and your care. Without our community, things would be a little harder! Our God is the great God, and He has the right little one for us. We trust that despite the bumps in this story, God has the perfect time and plan. We cannot wait to meet him or her!

Our home study has been approved! 🥳 we are so incredibly in awe at the work the Lord our God does, and how He shows up. Our home study was completed in record time and we are so grateful for the family and friends who wrote letters for our home study and finished them in less than a week. Your letters brought many tears to our eyes as we can see the love and support you have for us and for God. We love you all! We currently have $8.3K left in our adoption account but need $8-$10K more in order to work with an experienced interstate domestic adoption. Hello friends,
After our fundraising event, we found out Cindy was expecting. Unfortunately several weeks later, we lost our little one. We’ve been in mourning and healing. We trust God’s faithfulness and know our little one is in heaven. We ask that you support us in prayer as we continue in hopes of starting a family soon.
A few weeks ago, we decided to adopt from the United States instead and do an independent private adoption (self-matching). This is due mainly because as we researched and spoke to attorneys, we realized how much longer it takes through an agency. Now, we’ll be using two attorneys (one for us and one for the birth mother). We also hope to provide post-adoption counseling for the mother. We hope to find our baby here in the U.S.
We are now past the halfway point of finishing our home study, and we’ll be ready to adopt from any state. More updates to come.

We have exciting news! On Wednesday we paid the $10K fee to start our home study and begin preparing our dossier. This step will take 4-6 months. During this time we will also take 18 hrs (1/3 of the required classes) of parenting classes. Once complete, the next $16.2K will be due in order to submit our dossier (family portfolio) to the Costa Rican government.
Today we received an email telling us our next steps and the links where we will take our online classes before the home study.
We really see that this isn’t up to us. It’s ALL the Lord and we see Him moving, providing, and being faithful. All glory to Him! Over 90% of the funds we paid on Wednesday came from the Lord- in unexpected and beautiful ways. We had 60 days to come up with $10K and if you know our field of work then you know we couldn’t have done it without Him! He is confirming this journey for us and we can’t wait to see what He does next. We have the God who works wonders through ordinary people just like us and you. We thank you for joining us in this journey!

We prayed for children for many years, and when the Lord unfolded His plans for us it was a mix of emotions.
