We are so excited to be adopting our second child. Our first adoption took place in Ukraine over 24 years ago. We adopted a five year old Roma (Gypse) boy. 6 years later we had a naturally born daughter but we were told no more children as it could kill my wife. We thought we done having children. One boy, one girl done! Then lo and behold we have Amiya now. She came to us in January after needing to leave her home and find a safe place to live. We thought we were only going to have her for a week or so but here we are 7 months later and now have custody of her. She wants to be adopted into our family and take our name. She is 17. Smart as a whip and has a great sense of humor. She can be shy around new people but at home she is a riot and we love her like one of our own already. Our hope is to have her adopted on her birthday in November. The custody cost us around $9,000 and now the adoption is going to be more than that and we are also helping her with college. If you can help at all we would be so grateful. We are so excited to have her permanently in our family!
